When University/Student exterior spaces are fun yet functional…

In the rapidly changing world of student accommodation and campus living, the focus is very much on exterior spaces, with many investing in the public exteriors and study areas.APU-R+W

The Modern Garden Company has worked on many university projects, creating spaces that are fun, as well as functional. Read about their projects below:

Anglia Ruskin University Students Union Building – Designer: AHMM

Located on the stunning university campus, the obvious choice for this project was steel and basalt – the perfect combination of robust and cool. With 8mm hot dipped galvanised steel frames supporting solid slabs of German Basalt, these tables and benches are designed to take tough treatment. The clever footplates in the frames have holes to allow for secure fixing into the ground, keeping it fixed and secure.

This award winning school offered the students the very best dining facilities. Here we provided outdoor dining and bespoke tables and benches for the cafeteria. In the cafeteria, bespoke refectory tables and benches using the outdoor larch sections with continuous laminated surfaces were specified, following thorough testing, these were then twice oiled to lightly protect the timber, producing a surface that is easy to maintain and will age naturally.

University of Nottingham – Designer AHMM

This iconic student centre at the University of Nottingham needed the type of furniture that met the needs of the students with an emphasis on robustness and longevity.

The Modern Garden Company supplied a combination of all galvanised steel bistro tables and benches from Reichenberg + Weiss, the ultimate minimalist dining solution for every outdoor environment, with 8mm hot dipped galvanised steel frames and tubes. They also supplied the  amazing Gargantua picnic system by Extremis with removable seats for wheel chair access. This overall furniture combination achieved a massive capacity of 56, with plenty of room for more.RW_Nottingham2 web
