BCFA Award Given to Jacob Underwood from Bucks New Uni for His Fiero Stacking Chairs

Jacob Update

Last week saw the start of part two of New Designers 2015 and the first award of the day was The BCFA Award. It’s winner was Jacob Underwood of Bucks New Uni for His Fiero Stacking Chairs.

The prize includes:

  • A four week placement at Nova Interiors
  • Accommodation for the duration of the placement
  • £100 per week basic living expenses
  • Monday 13th July to Friday 7th August – Dates are flexible

Judges Comments: ‘Good contemporary interpretation of traditional ercol values for modern living. We were impressed by the consideration given to every detail.’

‘The judges are keen to express their dismay at the imminent closure of the Bucks New University furniture design course. This is a course with historically significant connections to the British contract furniture industry which are so clearly evident in the New Designers exhibition this year’.

Winners Comment: ‘Thank you to New Designers and BCFA for this award – the placement will really open my eyes and prepare me a lot better for what’s to come.’

Congratulations Jacob and good luck for your placement and the future.
